  • JOB SUMMARY:

    The Production Supervisor supervises and manages the performance of day-to-day operational activities which may include pit and/or plant production (primary, secondary, chip plant, wash plant, etc.) as well as plant and mobile equipment maintenance. This position is responsible for all aspects of training and developing a safe and efficient hourly workforce through use of the company’s safety policies and procedures, MSHA, and other regulations. The Production Supervisor will assist the Production Superintendent and/or the Operations Manager in all aspects of his/her duties including, but not limited to, taking a personal role in the continued improvement of the safety program, cost projections and continuous improvement justifications, hiring, discipline, and performance evaluations for hourly employees, ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies, meeting production and costs goals, quality control and other functions as assigned by management.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Follow all company policies and local, state and federal regulations for safe working procedures.
    • Take a personal role in the safety program by developing relevant topics for catwalk conversations, driving the conversations and following the program outline in its entirety.
    • Promote and support the plant safety advocate(s) in their duties.
    • Ensure that all hourly employees under his/her area of responsibility receive competent task training to safely perform his/her job duties.
    • Ensure that all safety training is properly documented in a timely manner.
    • Complete all necessary reporting requirements in a timely manner.
    • Promote and enforce attendance requirements, observe employee behavior, and participate in catwalk conversations.
    • Schedule employee duties and adjust to changes during the shift based on production demands.
    • Directly supervise all daily activities of assigned hourly production, maintenance, and support personnel.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all safety, maintenance, and plant cleanup items are addressed correctly and in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate with all plant shifts and management to obtain operational goals.
    • Assist with screening, interviewing, and hiring hourly personnel.
    • Conduct positive contact coaching and performance improvement discussions with all hourly employees under his/her area of responsibility and properly document discussions in a timely manner.
    • Constantly evaluate all processes and procedures and give recommendations that will optimize operations.
    • Assist with all environmental reporting and sampling requirements.
    • Ensure that all plant and mobile equipment on site are properly maintained.
    • Evaluate and interpret plant and mobile equipment preventative maintenance oil samples and make necessary corrections as needed.
    • Work closely with drilling and blasting contractors to plan and coordinate all drilling and blasting operations.
    • Work closely with all vendors as needed to evaluate performance of existing and new products.
    • Work closely with all vendors as needed to develop information for cost justification of capital improvements and optimization of operating processes and procedures.
    • Conduct monthly stockpile inventories and adjust inventory balances.
    • Reliable, regular attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.
    • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Possess a safe work history
    • Have a positive attitude and proactive approach towards our safety program.
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • 3 years’ experience in aggregate mining operations or equivalent other supervisory experience, with a general understanding of blasting, crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated processing equipment (Preferred).
    • Experience with quality control procedures and ability to make necessary changes to meet gradations.
    • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, over time, and weekends as required.
    • Good leadership abilities.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Good math skills including ability to figure stockpile volumes, conveyor belt speeds, sheave speeds, etc.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Ability to work near, around or on light and heavy equipment.
    • Currently possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform duties of position.
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
    • Bachelor’s Degree (Mining, Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
    • Associates Degree in a related field with a willingness to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in (Mining, Engineering or Construction Management) preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100lbs. of weight frequently
    • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders
    • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
    • Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently
    • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
    • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
    • Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
