Professor - Accounting teaches courses in the discipline area of accounting. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Accounting provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Accounting typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. This position will be a multi-year renewable contract. The individual will be expected to teach undergraduate Finance courses, both required and elective, and should have significant investment banking or other work experience in financial services with Wall Street firms and/or similar financial institutions. Courses will include but not be limited to Corporate Finance, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, and Fixed Income and Derivatives Analysis. This person will play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of best-in-class career preparation courses in investment banking and other financial services-related career paths for students.
This person should have an interest in developing new courses and programs aligned with Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or other related areas. He/she will establish close collaborations with employers, alumni, faculty colleagues, and career readiness staff members to ensure that our curriculum and other student preparation activities remain industry-relevant and leads to student hiring opportunities with top tier firms. He/she will serve as the faculty advisor to our Finance and Investment Club.
The Department focuses on educating the whole person, with our faculty members facilitating student acquisition of deep conceptual knowledge, their attainment of a broad set of professional competencies, and their development of a clear sense of professional ethics. Candidates should have a master's degree (or higher) from an AACSB accredited institution in Finance or a related field. Evidence of prior teaching effectiveness in a liberal arts setting is desired.
