    Brief Description of Duties

    The Department of Architecture and Urban Sustainability at The University of the District of Columbia, College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) seeks candidates for an Adjunct faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Architecture and Community Planning programs, with a start date of approximately August 16, 2021

    This position requires the Assistant/Associate Faculty Member to meet a specific need to:

    • Teach Environmental Systems (B.S. in Architecture) program, as well as lecture and seminar courses in their area of expertise at either the undergraduate or NAAB accredited (candidate). With specific expertise in teaching the following courses: ARCP 244 ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS I

    at the undergraduate level.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Utilize a variety of assessment techniques to ensure achievement of student learning outcomes.
    • A willingness to familiarize themselves with a variety of instructional delivery methods, including on-line learning and social media, to provide educational content and opportunities supported by evidence-based research and individual expertise.
    • Demonstrate a familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Blackboard and Banner systems or other learning management systems.
    • Be familiar with the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accreditation standards.
    • Work collaboratively with the Department Chair, and Program faculty.
    • Perform general student advisement, hold office hours, and perform course reviews with appropriate corrective/enhancement actions.


    Minimum Job Requirement

    • Master level degree in Engineering: M.Eng. and Licensure P.E. (PhD ideal)
    • Practice experience in Mechanical Engineering Systems and licensure in any one of 54 US jurisdiction including the District of Columbia.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Willingness to familiarize themselves with and adherence to NAAB accreditation standards.
