Professor - Biology teaches courses in the discipline area of biology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Biology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Biology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Visiting Professor of Biology

  • The Niagara University College of Arts and Sciences Department of Biology invites applications for a visiting professor position to begin August 2024. The position is for one year with the possibility of a tenure-track faculty position becoming available in the future. We seek applicants with research and teaching interests in the area of animal physiology and/or zoology. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research.

    The hired candidate will be required to teach 3-4 courses in each of the fall and spring semesters, participate in laboratory experiences with undergraduates, and engage in service to both the department and university. Teaching responsibilities include participation in a team-taught introductory biology course, a one-semester comparative anatomy and physiology with a laboratory, and advanced courses in the area of the applicant's interest. We seek applicants with an interest in fostering rigorous, inclusive, and high-impact learning environments.

    Niagara University has made a significant commitment to science education and research as evidenced by the research infrastructure available at B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Applicants must have an earned PhD or equivalent in animal physiology, zoology and/or related field
    • Teaching experience at the university level.
    • Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to use technology to support instruction.
    • An understanding and commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Post-doctoral experience in teaching and/or research is desirable.
    • Experience supporting research training for undergraduates.
