Professor - Biology jobs in Buffalo, NY

The Niagara University College of Arts and Sciences Department of Biology invites applications for a visiting professor position to begin August 2024. The position is for one year with the possibility of a tenure-track faculty position becoming available in the future. We seek applicants with research and teaching interests in the area of animal physiology and/or zoology. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research.

The hired candidate will be required to teach 3-4 courses in each of the fall and spring semesters, participate in laboratory experiences with undergraduates, and engage in service to both the department and university. Teaching responsibilities include participation in a team-taught introductory biology course, a one-semester comparative anatomy and physiology with a laboratory, and advanced courses in the area of the applicant's interest. We seek applicants with an interest in fostering rigorous, inclusive, and high-impact learning environments.

Niagara University has made a significant commitment to science education and research as evidenced by the research infrastructure available at B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Applicants must have an earned PhD or equivalent in animal physiology, zoology and/or related field
• Teaching experience at the university level.
• Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to use technology to support instruction.
• An understanding and commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post-doctoral experience in teaching and/or research is desirable.
• Experience supporting research training for undergraduates.
