Professor - Biology jobs in Missouri
Professor - Biology teaches courses in the discipline area of biology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Biology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Biology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Position Summary
The Assistant Professor in Biology supports the Master of Science in Natural Sciences and undergraduate programs, including those in Biology, Agriculture, Nursing, Education, and various pre-professional programs.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Biology and research in Biology.
- All duties pertinent to teaching, including curriculum development, mentoring, advising, participating in program assessment and review, and maintaining office hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work with a diverse student and faculty body.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of student preparation in the classroom.
Education and Experience
- Ph.D. in Biology, Cell & Molecular Biology, or a related area is required.
- Post-doctoral experience is a plus.
- Prior teaching experience is strongly desired.
