Professor - Biology jobs in Pennsylvania
Professor - Biology teaches courses in the discipline area of biology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Biology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Biology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. The School of Arts and Sciences of Gwynedd Mercy University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in biology to begin in August 2024. Primary teaching responsibilities will include cell biology laboratory, microbiology and anatomy and physiology for students in the health sciences, and additional contributions to the biology major. Additional responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate research, advising biology students, assisting in curriculum and course development, and exploring grant opportunities.
A Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline is required; preference will be given to applicants with experience in mammalian cell culture. Applicants must also provide evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate courses, articulate an understanding of the value of a liberal arts education, and demonstrate a strong commitment to research with undergraduate students.
For full consideration, applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vita, three letters of recommendation, a brief research summary, and a statement of teaching philosophy. Review of applications will begin on March 15, 2024, and the search will remain open until the position is filled. Candidates chosen for a campus interview will be expected to provide official undergraduate and graduate transcripts before they are hired.
