We serve researchers and manufactures in the biochemistry, pharmaceutical, microbiology, food, and agriculture areas. Our product line includes a broad range of sphingolipids, glycolipids, glycosphingolipids, fatty acids and esters, sterols, and vitamin E isomers (tocopherols and tocotrienols). Our specialty is in producing high purity sphingosines, ceramides, sulfatides, globotriaosylceramides, gangliosides, enzyme inhibitors, tocopherols, and tocotrienols. Within the area of sphingolipids we have earned a reputation as the preferred problem solver and technology leader due to our dedicated technical assistance.

Currently, we are looking to add an Assistant Scientist to the team:

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Following established protocols, assist with new batch production of natural products, synthetic, and semi-synthetic products.
• Support team initiatives to achieve deliverables, within budget and timeline by communicating clearly and regularly the status of all active projects.
• Maintain clean, organized lab spaces and adhere to all established lab safety protocols.
• Maintain a well-documented notebook and accurately prepare and submit lab materials, including SOP revisions, new batch QC submissions, etc., to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in optimization of lab procedures by identifying inconsistent steps to improve yields and optimize procedures.
• Assist with diverse organic syntheses, purifications, & characterizations using mass spec, NMR, IR, and UV data.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry/relevant field.
• Experience: 1-2 years (with Bachelor’s), None (with Master’s).
• Computer Skills: Proficiency with ChemDraw, Microsoft Office Suite, and SciFinder.
• Experience with thin layer chromatography, column chromatography, recrystallization, and other purification methods.
• Solid understanding of stoichiometry and proficiency with associated calculations.
• Availability to work on-site in State College, PA, Monday through Friday.
