Chemical Production Operator II

  • General Purpose: Under the direction of the Shift Foreman General Foreman; mix and handle chemicals and metals, record information and observations relating to the mixing process, troubleshoot issues with equipment and tanks, working as an integral part of the production team. Essential functions may vary depending on shift.

    Overall Expectations: In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the following:

    · Perform high quality work within specified deadlines

    · Conduct themselves in a professional manner as it relates to co-workers, vendors, suppliers, and visitors

    · Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with co-workers

    · Work effectively as both a team member and independently providing necessary communication and coordination of work efforts with co-workers and supervisors

    · Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organization in a changing environment

    · Must be able to speak and hear to communicate effectively

    · Keep company proprietary information and intellectual property confidential

    Essential Functions:

    · Monitor machinery, tanks, and instruments to ensure proper operation

    · Manipulate the chemical process using controls, and other input devices to operate tanks

    · Take chemical samples as required, collaborating closely with the chemist to ensure quality of all manufactured products

    · Have the ability of formulate, make batches, with little or no supervision

    · Must have knowledge and understanding of log sheets

    · Examine equipment and tanks daily to identify any issues and report to supervisor

    · Storing, retrieving, mixing, and monitoring chemicals used in the production process

    · Recording information, such as acids and metals, weights, and temperature

    · Troubleshooting issues with production equipment and processes and understanding the capabilities of plant equipment

    · Collaborating with all team members to complete the production process

    · Loading and unloading tanker and cargo trucks

    · Must meet physical requirements of the position

    · Operating a forklift

    · Adherence to BGCS attendance policies

    Non-Essential Functions:

    · Assist in the training of entry level new hires

    · Reporting safety violations or other concerns

    · Observing all safety and quality regulations

    · Assist in planning and improving processes and product quality

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    · Forklift experience

    · Understanding of chemical processes

    · Aptitude for mechanics

    · Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality

    · Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed

    · Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness

    · Position requires highest diligence

    · Effectively work within a manufacturing environment

    · Ability to communicate effectively with all personnel levels

    Special Position Requirements: Duties for this position include seeing, listening, writing, standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, and carrying up to fifty pounds in the manufacturing plant; tilting drums weighing up to 624 pounds. Employees are expected to wear protective gear such as respirators, goggles, safety glasses, gloves and /or protective coveralls when assigned duty warrants these precautions.
