Professor - Chemistry teaches courses in the discipline area of chemistry. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Chemistry provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Job Description:BASIC FUNCTION:
    Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Chemistry courses up to 10 hours/week

    Organize and teach all levels of Chemistry classes

    Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning;

    Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;

    Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester;

    Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired

    Essential Duties Summary:REQUIRED DUTIES:
    Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

    Required Qualifications:
    QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications stated below:

    Masters in chemistry OR

    Bachelors in chemistry or biochemistry AND

    Masters in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry

    OR the equivalent.

    Desired/Preferred Qualifications:EXPERIENCE:
    Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Chemistry to community college students.

    Physical Demands:
    Range/Step: Step 1 - Step 7 (Based on degree and teaching experience)

    Salary Range: $47.07 - $78.42/Lecture Rate Per Hour
