Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applicants for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor in Chemistry, for one year beginning September 1, 2024. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in chemical education, with an emphasis on student training and preparedness in the classroom and the lab.

    Applicants are invited to submit 1) a cover letter addressing the candidate's interest in teaching, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) three letters of recommendation with contact information for the referees.     Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree (MS in Chemistry or Biochemistry) at the time of appointment. Candidates with a Master's degree will be appointed as an instructor.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Terminal degree (Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry) at the time of appointment.
    • Teaching experience in general chemistry
    • Experience mentoring students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds

    Responsibilities include four classes in the Fall and Spring semesters. This will include lecture and laboratory courses in general chemistry, as well as the possibility of upper-level courses in analytical, biological, or inorganic chemistry.

    Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience.
