Professor - Civil Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of civil engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Civil Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Civil Engineering typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     The University of Mary invites applications for a full-time assistant or associate faculty position in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and rank; Advanced degree is required by time of, or soon after, employment. 

    The successful candidate will teach courses in the Engineering Program and include advising engineering students. Preference will be given to Civil or Mechanical Engineers. Candidates should be able to develop and teach courses and corresponding labs, with the ability to teach in a variety of fundamental Civil / Mechanical Engineering areas.  

    All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see https://www.umary.edu/about/mission-identity).

    Qualifications and Requirements Include:

    • Applicants must excel in teaching at the undergraduate level, demonstrate evidence of supporting student formation outside of the classroom
    • Advanced degree required by the time of or shortly after employment. Ph.D. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering/Management preferred
    • Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
    • Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
    • Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Hamm School of Engineering and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
