    Assistant Professor - Speech-Language Pathology

    The Department of Communication Sciences and Oral Health, housed within the College of Health Sciences, offers several degrees in the areas of communication sciences and dental hygiene. Communication sciences degrees include a B.S. in Communication Sciences, an online master's degree in Education of the Deaf, and a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology with both residential and distance learning venues. We also offer post-baccalaureate certificates in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Multicultural and Diversity Studies. In addition, we provide an emphasis area for the PhD in Health Studies and the PhD in Special Education. There are 26 full-time tenured, tenure-track, and clinical faculty members in the department who work together to support the missions of the programs, department, and university. Our SLP faculty members are engaged in a variety of research and teaching efforts and provide clinical supervision in our two speech-language pathology clinics (the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic and the Stroke Center - Dallas).

    The Position

    The primary responsibilities of the tenure-track Assistant Professor include teaching graduate SLP and undergraduate Communication Sciences academic courses, preferably in the areas of child language and special populations, although other areas of specialty will be considered, supervising clinical students, conducting research for scholarly publications, and providing professional service. Our CAA-accredited SLP master's program has both a traditional venue and a well-established distance education venue, with close to 200 students. Faculty teach undergraduate courses on the Denton campus and evening graduate courses either in Denton or Dallas. Distance SLP courses are transmitted via live videoconferencing technology to students across the state and can be taught from either campus or from the receiving locations.

    Qualified applicants will hold an earned research doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related area; be ASHA-certified; and be licensed (or eligible to become licensed) as a speech-language pathologist in Texas. Preferences include clinical supervisory experience and bilingual Spanish-speaking.
