Professor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Assistant Professor of Computer Science

  • Talladega College is seeking an Assistant Professor to teach Cybersecurity courses in the Computer Science program. This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Department Chair and is slated to begin as early as spring 2024, but no later than fall 2024.

    Responsibilities

    • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
    • Teaching introductory to advanced undergraduate cybersecurity classes.
    • Teaching responsibilities include Ethical Hacking, Digital Forensics, Network Security, Information Assurance, & other computer information science courses as assigned.
    • Teaching schedules may include in person, online, or hybrid instruction.
    • Teaching responsibilities to include innovative and engaging use of technology in the classroom.
    • Participation in curriculum development, academic mentoring, department and division activities, and support of college activities.
    • Active service on department, division, and college committees.
    • Engagement in professional development.
    • Other duties as assigned.
     Qualifications
    • MS in Cybersecurity, Computer Science (with cybersecurity concentration) or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. PhD Preferred.
    • Three years’ experience in higher education.
    • A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with colleagues and students, promoting diversity and equity.
    • Applicants with an interest in Ethical Hacking & Networking are preferred.
    • The ideal candidate will have excellent teaching skills, good interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to function collegially as a member of the faculty.
    • Industry & entrepreneurial experience is useful.
