Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Job Summary: Highly Qualified Computer Science Teacher for 2024-25 Academic Year.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum Qualifications

    Possess (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities required) a bachelor’s or master’s degree in education or a related field.

    Eligible or possess Florida Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach computer science courses.

    Possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

    Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and administration.

    Other Requirements:

    Possess effective classroom management skills as it relates to safe learning environment, discipline, and assessment.

    Discover and develop special talents of students in the field of Computer Science to help them to reach their highest potential in class and extracurricular activities.

    Prepare each student to meet the Florida Department of Education Computer Science Course Standards.

    Have the ability to be flexible in working with students at all developmental levels.
    Have skills in human relations and conflict management.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Essential Duties

    1. Teach a variety of computer science courses at 9th - 12th-grade levels, including AP Computer Science Principles, Computer Science A, and introductory course based in web development, coding, Microsoft office bundle series, problem-solving, algorithms, data structures, data collection, and analysis, interacting with remote information.

    2. Skillfully work with students of all backgrounds and levels of academic performance.

    3. Knowledge of computer science concepts, language, and procedures to be able to teach courses providing in-depth knowledge and skills to students. This includes experience with language such as C, Java, C , Python, PHP, Visual BAsic, HTML, Javascript, MySQL etc.

    4. Prepare and deliver rigorous, engaging, and project‐based instruction to students in grades 9‐12 using computer science curriculum

    6. Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style

    7. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions)

    8. Teach courses to students, utilizing course of study adopted by the District, FL State and other appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.

    9. Develop lesson plans to demonstrate course concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids, accommodations which ESE and section 504 students need.

    10. Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.

    11. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe classroom environment.

    12. Evaluate academic and social growth of students; keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.

    13. Ensure students’ academic progress and serve as a primary point of contact for parents.

    14. Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.

    15. Evaluate each student’s progress in meeting the course standards.

    16. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.

    17. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health and attitude problems.

    18. Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.

    19. Supervise students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day.

    20. Participate in staff meeting and the sponsorship of student activities.

    21. Administer testing in accordance with division testing practices.

    22. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

    Other Duties

    2. Participate in various student and parent activities which occur in school including PVO, student clubs and after-school activities.

    3. Create an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.

    4. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
