Professor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Job Description:

    APPOINTMENT: August 17, 2023

    RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will teach a range of computer science courses. This is a teaching position; the teaching load is four courses per-semester with 12 contact hours per week.

    Requirements:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • A minimum of a Master's degree in computer science or closely related field
    • Prior teaching experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants satisfying the required qualifications are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to candidates with any or all of the following:
    • a) Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science
    • b) teaching experience in introductory computer science courses, software development, data structures, advanced use of spreadsheet and/or database applications
    • c) relevant industry experience

    For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

    THE DEPARTMENT: The School of Computer Sciences offers a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Information Systems at Macomb and Moline, and a B.S. in Cybersecurity. The faculty of 20 members serves approximately 175 undergraduate majors and 400 graduate majors.
