    Organization: Exploration Elementary Charter School for Science and Technology 

    Reports To: Principal

    Duration: 11-Month Position 

    Salary: $54,633 base


    Position Summary  


    The Computer Science Teacher will deliver high-quality instruction in computer science to students. They will develop and implement curriculum plans, provide engaging classroom instruction, and assess student learning outcomes. 


    Essential Functions

    ? Develops and implements lesson plans and instructional materials for computer science courses.  

    ? Delivers engaging and interactive classroom instruction that caters to diverse learning styles.

    ? Assesses student progress through assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams. 

    ? Provides timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth. 

    ? Maintains accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. 

    ? Fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration. 

    ? Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. 

    ? Use data to reflect on the effectiveness of lessons and student progress to improve instruction and professional practice. 

    ? Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns.

    ? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    ? Strong organizational and time management abilities.

    ? Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.

    ? Creative problem-solving skills.

    ? Passion for teaching and mentoring students.

    ? Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team.  


    Other

    ? Provides guidance and support to students in their computer science learning journey.

    ? Collaborates with other teachers and staff members to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students. 

    ? Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal.


    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications  

    1. Highly flexible and collaborative
    2. Fingerprint clearance from NYS Department of Education
    3. Current valid New York State Teaching Certificate at the elementary level
    4. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Education, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. 
    5. Teaching certificate or licensure in Computer Science or a related subject area.
    6. Previous teaching experience at the primary level

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Experience working in an urban school setting is preferred.
    2. Experience with curriculum development and instructional design. 
    3. Prior experience working in a classroom. 
    4. Master’s degree in education preferred.
