Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Economics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     JOB TITLE:   

    Open Rank Professor – Economics 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    The Department of Economics in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming invites applications for three open-rank tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2024. One of these positions could come with an appointment to an endowed Chair that includes reduced teaching and discretionary research support.  We are seeking candidates that can add to the Department’s excellence in environmental, natural resource, energy, and behavioral economics. Salary, scholarly support, and benefits are competitive. 

    The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a productive research program, supervise graduate students, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses. The Department specializes in environmental and natural resource economics and has an internationally ranked PhD program. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in economics or a closely related discipline. 

    All applicants should provide a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and one research paper. Applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor should provide three reference letters through the AEA JOE system. Applicants for higher ranks should provide contact information for three references who may be contacted with permission from the candidate. Initial interviews will be conducted via Zoom in early January.     The University of Wyoming College of Business (http://www.uwyo.edu/business/) is AACSB accredited and is located in a state-of-the-art, Leeds-certified building. The College currently offers undergraduate degrees in economics, finance, accounting, marketing, professional sales, management, and entrepreneurship. The College offers Master of Business Administration degrees, Masters degrees in accounting, economics, and finance, and Ph.D. degrees in economics and marketing.

    The Department of Economics

    The Department of Economics has a history of excellence in environmental and natural resource economics and recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its internationally ranked PhD program. The department’s focus on environmental and natural resources is complemented by strengths in energy, climate, behavioral, and public economics. The Department enjoys cutting-edge facilities, including The Teton Behavioral Lab, the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center, the University of Wyoming-National Park Service research station in the Grand Teton National Park, among other assets.

    REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

    This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

    Ph.D. in economics or a closely related discipline, completed prior to start date. Interested candidates who are ABD must have completed their dissertation on or before August 26, 2024. 

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • A demonstrated potential for or an established record of high-quality research publications. 
    • Evidence of an on-going high-quality research productivity. 
    • A record of effective instruction, successful student supervision, and securing external funding.
