    Other Conditions: General or Special funds, contingent upon position clearance, department needs, and fund availability. Appointment to begin August 2024. Selectee is required to complete the COE New Faculty Orientation in the first year, Title IX training, and pass a criminal background check.
     
    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence at the university level;
    • Develop and teach undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students in field-based teacher preparation programs in face-to-face and/or via a variety of distance delivery modes; 
    • Coordinate cohorts of teacher candidates in field-based settings; 
    • Collaborate with School of Teacher Education stakeholders, including colleagues at the university, school-level personnel, and community leaders;
    • Supervise teacher candidates in field-based settings;
    • Collaborate with international partnerships; 
    • Lead and participate in grant writing to support teacher education and teacher education partnerships; 
    • Advise graduate students;
    • Develop an active research and publication agenda contributing to teacher education; 
    • Lead and participate in Accreditation and Program Assessment activities; 
    • Participate in Teacher Recruitment and Retention activities;
    • Participate in Teacher Diversification activities (e.g., developing activities and curriculum for equitable instruction of diverse student populations);
    • Provide service to the university, public schools, and professional community;
    • Other duties as assigned. 
     
    Minimum Qualifications
    1. An earned Doctorate in STEM education or related field from an accredited institution, will consider ABD if completed by start date; 
    2. Two years of full-time K-12 teaching experience; 
    3. Knowledge of current STEM Content Area Educational Standards; 
    4. Teaching experience aligned with state and national STEM Content Area Standards;
    5. Experience using technology in teaching and distance education; 
    6. Evidence of an active or emerging research agenda contributing to teacher education;
    7. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience that provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated.
     
    Desired Qualifications:
    1. Five years of full-time K-20 STEM classroom teaching experience as the teacher of record;
    2. Experience mentoring and supervising teacher candidates in field-based settings;
    3. Experience working in a teacher preparation program;
    4. Experience teaching content area methods courses;
    5. Experience teaching research methods courses; 
    6. Experience working with international partnerships; 
    7. Evidence of successful grant writing to support teacher education and teacher education partnerships;
    8. Experience in leading and participating in Accreditation and Program Assessment activities; 
    9. Experience in Teacher Recruitment and Retention;
    10. Experience working with Native Hawaiian, special needs, or English language learner populations.
