    • Two years college level coursework in any of the following fields: Nutritional Science, Child Nutrition, Food Service Operations, or Agricultural Sciences; Registered Dietitians are encouraged to apply!
    • Knowledge of or interest in topics including urban gardening, botany, environmental science, health and nutrition, food systems, food access;
    • Experience with providing nutrition education to students age 4-18 years old
    • Experience with nutrition promotion via newsletters or social media preferred;
    • Experience with grant writing is a plus;
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills;
    • Ability to work independently and be flexible;
    • Computer skills and project management skills.
    • Requires full range of body motion, including reaching, stooping, bending and walking

    General Statement of Duties

    • To support the Food Service Department in providing farm to school learning opportunities and promote healthy nutrition to all students across the district. The ideal candidate should enjoy teaching others about gardening, farming, agriculture science, nutrition and/or child wellness.

    Essential Performance Responsibilities

    • Integrate nutrition education with the district’s curriculum by providing nutrition education in assigned classrooms
    • Utilize and expand outdoor culinary garden to promote hands-on learning experiences
    • Lead farm to school tastings in school cafeterias and engage students in farm to school promotion
    • Strengthen and expand collaborative relationships with community partners
    • Assist in developing and conducting approved trainings for food service staff, and safely preparing, serving and promoting regionally and school-sourced food in the cafeteria
    • Create nutrition education materials including school bulletin boards promoting healthy eating
    • Manage social media/newsletters for parents and members of the community promoting healthy eating
    • Assist and support in the ongoing promotion of the Wellness Policy.
    • Serve as a role model and point-person for nutrition and wellness in the community
    • Monitor, document and report on all activities
    • Perform additional duties that may be assigned by the Director of Food Services

    Terms of Employment

    • $25.00 per hour

    Work Year and Scheduling

    • 19.5 hours per week, 3 days (flexible), 7 hours per day ½ unpaid lunch included,
    • 10 month - School calendar year
