This is an exciting time to join the teaching staff of Portland Adult Education (PAE), the largest school for adults in Maine. Job description
We seek energetic, knowledgeable, flexible, team-oriented, highly-skilled teachers for classes that teach English to adult Multilingual Learners. The position requires the ability to provide rigorous instruction designed to improve students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English; plan effective lessons and assess student learning; maintain high expectations while providing support for students who are struggling; build students’ digital literacy skills in the ESOL classroom; and collaborate with other teachers in the ESOL department and across PAE.
A successful candidate will have excellent teaching skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience teaching English Language Learners; and the ability to be flexible and independent in learning to teach new content. Preferred: at least three years of teaching experience, particularly with various ESOL levels and with adults.
