    Clark College has an opening for part-time English department faculty in the BEECH (Basic Education, English, Communications and Humanities) unit. We welcome applicants with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds in a campus climate that provides active-based and equitably designed opportunities for student learning, respecting what all learners bring to our community. This includes but is not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, ability, age, gender, and sexual orientation. We welcome candidates who promote multicultural understanding and practice, and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to student learning and educational goal attainment. Primary teaching responsibilities include pre-college and college level composition, technical writing, and literature courses, depending on division needs and instructor's background. This position requires the use of a variety of instructional modalities, including both in-person and online, and extensive use of technology.

    This part-time position is an ongoing recruitment in which applications are collected year-round. Applicants must be available to teach the daytime, evening or weekend hours. Positions will be filled as program needs arise.

    • Teach assigned classes/labs incorporating departmental student learning outcomes
    • Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback

    • Use appropriate teaching methods to respond to varying student learning styles
    • Effectively use computer applications for instruction and communication where appropriate
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the mission of the College, its student population, and educational goals
    • Maintain department curriculum standards
    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Master's Degree or higher in English (or related discipline).
    • Postsecondary experience teaching composition
    • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.

    Salary: Lecture rate $85.48 per hour
