Professor - Environmental Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of environmental engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Environmental Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Environmental Engineering typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. This position offers a flexible, hybrid schedule from our Reading, Pottsville, or Lititz offices.
Role and Responsibilities
Providing environmental support for projects involving air, water, wastewater, waste, stormwater, emergency planning and overall regulatory compliance.
Preparing technical reports and plans in support of permit applications
Participates in all stages of technical aspects of projects to produce client-ready deliverables
Monitors and controls technical aspects of project to achieve project milestones
Maintains effective communication with project team
Coordinating with Project Manager for review of project deliverables
Maintains standards that are in compliance with technical regulations
Delegating technical tasks to junior staff as necessary
Serving as a client’s point of contact
Interacting with and establishing relationships with regulatory organizations and providing interpretation, review, and strategic analysis of federal, state, and local technical guidance and regulations
Supporting other business units with expertise as necessary to promote the overall success of the company
Staying up to date with new regulations trends, advancements, and changes within the industry as it relates to environmental compliance
Conducting site visits as well as office work
Knowledge, Skills, and abilities
Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or related natural resource discipline
5 years of project-related environmental experience, field experience preferred
Experience with air permitting regulations, compliance forms and air quality modeling
Experience working with consulting firm or regulatory agency preferred
Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and laws
Able to prepare comprehensive project records, technical reports, and permit applications.
Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously
Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates, clients, vendors, consultants, and construction contractors
Excellent communication, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills
Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Ability to travel locally for fieldwork and overnight on occasion
Valid Driver’s License
