Professor - Environmental Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of environmental engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Environmental Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Environmental Engineering typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter;
OR
graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience;
OR
graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry;
OR
18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying.
The incumbent will be responsible for performing detailed site inspections to evaluate existing conditions, and compliance with the Mined Land Reclamation Law and regulations, approved plans and permit conditions; issuing inspection letters and Notices of Violation; assessing reclamation work, including grading, revegetation, water control features, etc., at mine sites to ensure compliance with approved plans, and to approve reclamation work or require remedial actions where appropriate; investigating mining complaints, including but not limited to, mining outside approved areas at permitted sites, dust, noise, etc.; and calculating reclamation financial security amounts to ensure the performance of reclamation
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2024, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
