Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Foreign Languages typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Position Summary

    The UNC Asheville Department of Languages and Literatures - French invites applications for teaching introductory classes as an adjunct instructor. To apply, please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae and transcripts. The cover letter should discuss relevant teaching and/or professional experience, the fields or courses in which the applicant has interest in teaching, and expertise and credentials which would qualify the applicant to teach in Department of Languages and Literatures - French.     Other materials may be requested to finalize employment. Each applicant must renew the application every two years to remain in the pool of applicants.

    The Department values excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentorship. The ideal candidate will have native/near-native language skills, and experience in the language classroom particularly with beginners. The candidate should also be committed to the delivery of a curriculum that ensures diversity and inclusion.

    Doctorate or Master's degree in French (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline). Exceptions may be granted for candidates with exceptional professional and/or teaching experience.
