    Duties

    As a Public Affairs Specialist within the St. Pete Coastal and Marine Science Center, some of your specific duties will include :

    • Assisting project chiefs to improve communication through development of web pages, social media content and press releases.
    • Hosting and meeting with stakeholders to convey knowledge of USGS activities, assess interest and utility of USGS products, and gather research planning requirements.
    • Providing technical assistance and training for use of USGS developed software applications and databases.
    • Organizing and hosting public events at the science center, or recruiting and accompanying scientists to make presentations.

    Occasionally accompanies scientific fieldwork.

    • Participating in evaluating the effectiveness of communication efforts and development of communication plans.
