Professor - Law teaches courses in the discipline area of law. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Law provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Law typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Duties:
- Assist attorneys in all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and adoption
- Prepare legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
- Organize and maintain client files using document management systems
- Transcribe dictations and prepare correspondence
- File documents with the court and serve opposing parties
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information
- Schedule appointments and manage attorney calendars
- Answer phone calls and provide excellent phone etiquette to clients
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently
- Provide general clerical support to the legal team
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a paralegal in family law is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in using document management systems and other legal software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and deadlines
