Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Direct Support Professional Coordinator

  • JOB SUMMARY: 

     

    The Direct Support Professional Coordinator ensures our DSP workforce is robust, well-trained, well-supported, and assigned to work schedules that maximize high-quality service delivery.  The Direct Support Professional is also expected to meaningfully know all participants who receive employment and community supports.  Shadowing and substitute direct support coverage are regularly required. 

     

     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary.) 

     

    • Screen and interview applicants for DSP positions and make recommendations to prospective hiring supervisors about potential ‘good fit’ candidates. 
    • Provide initial orientation and training once the HR portion of the onboarding process is complete. Responsible for  
    • ensuring new hires complete pre-service training, 
    • ensuring new hires complete person-specific training, 
    • ensuring DSPs complete required refresher training, 
    • training new DSPs in Carelogic, Office 365, and Company Mileage, and  
    • providing follow-up support for these platforms as well as for UKG as needed. 
    • Maintain a current roster of DSPs that supports maximum productivity (indicating availability, cross-trained capacity, etc.) 
    • Maintain current knowledge of participants’ funded services and support needs and assign DSPs accordingly. 
    • Schedule all DSP work hours, prioritizing supported employment and continuity of at least minimum service delivery when staff resources are limited.   
    • Maintain the DSP work schedule(s)in a location where all supervisors can view it. 
    • Receive call outs and adjust DSP works schedules as needed. 
    • Approve DSP vacation requests in accordance with service needs and fairness, and notify supervisors of approved time off. 
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for DSPs with questions about agency-level or administrative matters, and direct DSPs back to supervisors for participant-specific questions. 
    • Provide active support to supervisors by ensuring DSP’s ongoing training compliance, providing DSP performance feedback to supervisors, and attending supervision meetings as needed. 
    • Provide substitute coverage as needed. 
    • Maintain DSP resource and reference tools.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels required to perform the essential functions of this position.) 

     

    • High school diploma or equivalent 
    • Experience working directly with clients who receive mental health and/or developmental services 
    • Highly organized 
    • Acceptable driving record  
    • Proficient in computer skills 
    • Teamwork  
    • Thoroughness 
    • Must be able to provide direct support to meet a wide range of needs including personal care support, supportive responses to challenging behavior, and provision of special care procedures for those with medical conditions.
