Professor - Legal Support teaches courses in the discipline area of legal services. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Legal Support provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Legal Support typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. MLA’s Statewide Advocacy Support Unit announces an immediate opening for a full-time staff attorney position reporting to the Director of Advocacy for Children’s Rights. This is a floater position that handles all duties related to casework, from initial intake through representation of child clients before all relevant agencies and/or courts. Maintain case files in accordance with MLA standards. Represent indigent residents residing in certain child-focused Mental Hygiene Administration (MHA) inpatient facilities. Work with other attorneys, law graduates, paralegals, social workers, and students on cases and/or projects. The salary range for this position is $66,585.00 - $106,585.00.
