Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     The Legal Support Manager is a fulltime, exempt position responsible for managing a team of legal support staff in providing administrative support to the attorneys of the firm. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this position is an integral part of the Legal Support Team that works closely with attorneys, staff, and clients.

     

    The Legal Support Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising legal support teams based in Augusta and Portland; managing daily workflow within the legal support team to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks including participation in the legal support work as a working supervisor; reviewing and approving timecards; conducting regular performance evaluations; developing and implementing training programs; serving as a point of contact for attorneys regarding legal support services; managing the allocation of resources, including workload distribution and staffing requirements; assisting in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new hires; ensuring that all legal support and activities comply with firm policies and procedures; ensuring files are maintained and destroyed in compliance with record retention policies; other duties as assigned by the Chief Human Resources Officer.

     

    The ideal candidate will be a professional, motivated self-starter with strong communication and interpersonal skills. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience, five (5) years of experience in a legal support role, and three (3) years of experience managing a program or supervising staff.   Experience with Microsoft Office, implementing and managing multiple projects, and working as part of a team are required. Experience in Human Resources or employee relations management is a plus. The successful candidate will have demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and the ability to create a positive working environment, and establish effective relationships with a team, while accomplishing goals and meeting deadlines.
