Professor - Liberal Arts teaches courses in the discipline area of liberal arts. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Liberal Arts provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Liberal Arts typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     UNIVERSITY MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.  

     LOCATION: Corban University’s 220 acre campus is situated on a hillside forest setting overlooking the Willamette Valley, just minutes from the heart of Salem, Oregon’s capital city.  The rugged coast awaits only an hour’s drive to the west. To the east is the mountainous Cascade Range. Portland, the state’s largest city, is less than an hour away and is home to cultural museums, parks, shopping, and restaurants.   Adjuncts may be hired to teach on campus or remote, depending on the needs of the department at that time.

     SUMMARY:  This pool accepts applications for potential openings for part-time instructors (Adjuncts) that may arise throughout the year and is not a guarantee of an open position. Adjuncts may be hired in a variety of departments/schools, including:

                   Center for Nontraditional Learning (Online)

                   Department of Humanities

                   Department of Natural Science and Mathematics

                   Hoff School of Business

                   School of Education

                   School of Ministry

                   School of Social Sciences

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES:           

    • Develop course schedules and syllabi.
    • Identify and meet the learning needs of students.
    • Perform biblical integration in line with Corban’s Statement of Faith.
    • Develop and administer formative and summative assessment instruments for students’ progress and competence.
    • Work closely and maintain consistent communication with the department chair to insure instructional alignment with School of Ministry outcomes.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:  

    • Master’s degree in related field for undergraduate teaching.
    • Doctoral degree is required to teach graduate level courses.
    • Candidate should value an environment that reflects the diversity of God’s kingdom, engages in global concerns and connects culturally.
    • Candidate must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence a mature Christian faith, be in agreement with the University’s Statement of Faith, and be committed to the integration of biblical principles throughout the teaching process.

     BENEFITS:  Due to the nature of the position, Adjuncts are not benefits eligible.

     WORKING CONDITIONS:  Traditional office and classroom environment. Events on and off campus during non-business hours may be an aspect of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
