Professor - Mathematics teaches courses in the discipline area of mathematics and statistics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. This is a contract role for a Mathematics Tutor. The Mathematics Tutor will be responsible for providing on-site tutoring services in the Tyler based office. The day-to-day tasks of the Mathematics Tutor include tutoring students in mathematics, conducting online ACT/SAT prep classes in person in the office and virtually, and effectively communicating complex mathematical concepts and test strategies to students.
- Strong Mathematics and Algebra skills
- Experience in tutoring and online tutoring
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of standardized tests such as ACT/SAT
- Experience working with high school students
- Ability to implement the Capstone test prep curriculum in an engaging way
- Patience and adaptability in working with diverse learners
- Available on Saturdays and weeknights
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 6 per week
Schedule:
- After school
- Evening shift
- Weekends as needed
