Professor - Mathematics teaches courses in the discipline area of mathematics and statistics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • The Mathematics Program within the School of Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) is seeking an innovative individual to teach Mathematics undergraduate courses beginning Fall 2024. The School of Sciences offers a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with concentrations in mathematics education and actuarial sciences.

    • Teach undergraduate courses during the fall and spring semester.
    • Advise students and maintain records of student progress.
    • Assist in all areas of program improvement, including participation in curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment.
    • Actively participate in recruitment for the mathematics degree program.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    Candidates must be passionate about teaching undergraduates. Candidates should have at least a master’s degree in mathematics or related field with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate mathematics coursework. Qualifications include:

    • Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds
    • Coursework and/or experience in mathematics or related field
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
