Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Medical Ethics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Medical Ethics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Mount St. Joseph University's Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice is seeking adjunct professors in the undergraduate Criminology program. Courses may vary by semester.

    Responsibilities may include the following:

    • Course instruction
    • Grading assignments
    • Monitoring student participation
    • Office hours
    • Meetings with the Chair and/or faculty
    • Adherence to department and university policies and procedures
    • Maintaining open communication with students, staff, and faculty
    • Maintaining the confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA
    • Ability to use technology in teaching

    Qualifications


    Education: Master in Criminology or Criminal Justice required

    Experience: Prior experience as a classroom instructor preferred

    Preferred Areas of Specialty:  Preferred background in Victimology and/or Crime Prevention
