Professor - Medical Ethics teaches courses in the discipline area of medical ethics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Medical Ethics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Medical Ethics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Position Summary:

    The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Start date is August 2024. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is expected.

    Requirements

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Responsibilities include 4/4 teaching load, scholarship, and service. Teaching load will include 1000- and 2000-level foundational Spanish courses in addition to a variety of upper-division courses. Courses may be offered in-person, hybrid, or online. The candidate is expected to serve the institution and remain active in the profession. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Ph.D in Spanish required (ABD considered).
    • Ideal candidates will have a strong generalist academic background and expertise in, but not limited to, one or more of the following fields: Peninsular literature, translation/interpretation, and/or Peninsular culture and civilization. Latin American literature, linguistics, or second language acquisition is a plus.
    • Experience in online and/or hybrid settings.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

    • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
