Professor - Medical Ethics teaches courses in the discipline area of medical ethics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Medical Ethics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Medical Ethics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Description

    The adjunct instructor of ethics teaches a 3-credit hour ethics course that primarily serves pre-nursing and other students interested in the health professions. Ability to create and deliver lessons and evaluate student work is required. Experience with active learning techniques, instructional technology, and a good sense of humor are welcome. Compensation is based on the number of sections taught and is commensurate with degree and experience.

    Qualifications


    To succeed in this role you will need:

    • A Ph.D. in Philosophy or Bioethics is preferred, but candidates with master's degrees in these fields will also be considered. 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
    • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level, particularly as the instructor or record, preferred. 
    • Willingness to incorporate diversity, cultural-competency and social justice into teaching. 
    • Experience with learning management systems (D2L Brightspace or equivalent) is preferred.
