Professor - Music teaches courses in the discipline area of music. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Music provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Music typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Operating one of the largest music education studios in Southern Oregon, we pride ourselves on fostering a creative and dynamic learning environment. With hundreds of students between our Eugene and Medford, OR locations, and plans for further expansion, we offer a unique opportunity for musicians to grow professionally and personally.

    Position Overview:

    We are currently seeking talented and enthusiastic music instructors to conduct private piano, guitar, and vocal lessons at our studios in downtown Eugene. Ideal candidates will possess a blend of musical proficiency, a friendly and confident demeanor, and a genuine passion for teaching students of all ages. This position offers the flexibility to shape your schedule, work with a diverse clientele, and contribute to a vibrant music learning community.

    Teaching experience is desirable but not required, as we can provide training if you are proficient on your instrument.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct one-on-one music lessons in piano, guitar, or vocals, adhering to our engaging curriculum.
    • Participate in a brief training period to familiarize with Rogue Music Lessons' teaching philosophy and curriculum.
    • Engage with students to foster a positive and stimulating learning environment.
    • Opportunities to lead group classes and participate in community outreach programs and performances, with potential for higher compensation based on experience.

    Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in one or more of the following: piano, guitar, or vocals. Ability to teach multiple instruments is a plus.
    • Solid understanding of music theory.
    • Previous teaching experience is desirable but not mandatory.
    • Musicians with or without formal music education are encouraged to apply; however, a strong foundation in music or education is highly valued.
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
    • Many of our students are adults, but you will be working with and should be comfortable around children.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • $25 to $35 per hour, based on experience.
    • Part-time and full-time positions available.
    • Four scheduled one-week vacations per year around major holidays.
