Professor - Music teaches courses in the discipline area of music. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Music provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Music typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Minimum Qualifications:

    • Skilled, experienced piano player
    • Skilled, experienced singer/song leader
    • Choral direction experience
    • Basic computer skills
    • Familiarity with and ability to play many different music styles: (i.e. hymns, contemporary Christian, global music, folk, etc.)

    The below qualifications are wish list items. However, we value diverse backgrounds and experiences.     Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to play additional instruments. Guitar would be a plus.
    • Experience in a church or similar setting
    • Well-networked with other musicians in the local area
    • Ability to arrange music when necessary to make the voices of a small choir shine
    • Familiarity with directing a handbell choir (we do have a set of handbells and congregation members who enjoy playing them)

    Job Description:

    • Help plan worship and select music
    • Direct choir (rehearsals are before worship on Sundays)
    • Provide musical leadership on Sundays (currently we worship at 4pm) as well as occasional special services (Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, memorial services, etc.)
    • Help fundraise as necessary
    • Attend music committee meeting every other month.
    • Meet with staff/pastor once a week.
    • Manage maintenance of instruments as well as sheet music files.
    • Report music to our licensing services

    Hours:

    • Onsite Hours: 1 hour staff meeting per week about 3-4 hours per Sunday (1 hour of worship plus rehearsal time with others… usually the music director is there about 2:00-5:30pm)
    • Remote Hours: practice and prep (as much time as needed – 5-10 hour estimate) 2 hour music team meeting once every other month (on zoom)

    Salary Range: $12,500 - $16,500 commensurate with experience
