Professor - Nursing teaches courses in the discipline area of nursing. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Creighton University College of Nursing seeks qualified candidates for a 9-month, full-time track faculty appointment for its on-site BSN program in Omaha, Nebraska.

    The candidate will be expected to conduct classroom instruction in the BSN program as well as supervise students in clinical and simulation/lab experiences in the faculty’s area of clinical expertise. Flexibility to supervise students in community-based settings is expected. Faculty will also be expected to participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Other faculty responsibilities include those associated with service and scholarship commensurate with the College’s standards of performance for rank and university expectations. Rank and salary are commensurate with academic credentials and experience.

     

    Requirements

    • Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in nursing.
    • 2 years of clinical nursing experience in their respective clinical areas required. 
    • Experience in classroom, simulation instruction, the use of technology in classroom and lab instruction, and clinical supervision preferred.
    • Candidates must have a current unencumbered license to practice as an RN in the state of Nebraska, or eligibility for licensure.
