Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Assistant Professor of Nursing

  • The School of Nursing facilitates the learning process of students in achieving the Doctor of Nursing Practice, the Master of Science with nurse practitioner, nurse educator, or nurse manager leader concentration options and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degrees. The school currently manages recruitment, admission, and retention of 250 undergraduate and 90 graduate students. National Accreditation is maintained to insure delivery of quality nursing education.
     
    CSU Pueblo serves a diverse student body and is dedicated to interdisciplinary learning and entrepreneurship that elevates our people and our community, creates educational opportunities, fosters unique collaborations, and supports inclusion, access, and affordability as a gateway to the world.This on campus, tenure-track nursing faculty position includes teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching assignments are matched with the education, skills, and experience of the faculty and may include classroom, lab, clinical and chair of student DNP projects. A full-time workload includes teaching an average of 12 course credits per semester, scholarly activities includes publishing, research, presentations, clinical scholarship and various professional projects and service includes campus and departmental committees as well as community involvement.

    Primary Duties
    Teaching assignment (12 course credits per semester). Duties Include:
    • Teach, evaluate and revise course as needed, provide on-campus and black board learning experiences/classes/labs/clinicals, evaluate student learning, post grades, submit final course grades per university policy.
    Service
    • Advise assigned group of students
    • Attend departmental meetings as applicable
    • Serve on university committee/taskforce
    Scholarly Activity 
    • Research
    • Publications
    • Presentations / conferences
    • Maintain licensure
    Ancillary Duties
    Attend various events such as graduation, pinning/hooding ceremony, convocation, recruitment activities and Awards. Participate in admission process and student recruitment activities.

    Salary Range
    $70,000

    Minimum Qualifications
    • MS or MSN in nursing and enrolled and plan to graduate within 3 years from a doctorate program related to nursing
    • Current unrestricted RN in Colorado or ability to obtain one or from a compact state.
    • Completed or willingness to complete a post-graduate nurse educator certificate program or obtain NLN nurse educator certification within 5 years
    • Commitment to value diversity, equity and inclusion in nursing education and the nursing profession
    • At least 2 years’ experience teaching nursing didactic, clinical, and/ or simulation courses using various course delivery methods
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Ph.D., DNP, or Ed. D. related to nursing
    • Nurse Educator coursework
    • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Blackboard, etc.)
    • Experience developing or mentoring DNP and/ or capstone projects
    • Experience with curriculum, assessment, and outcome evaluation processes to meet Accreditation and nursing education requirements.
    • 2-years’ Registered Nurse clinical or simulation experience in a specialty area including obstetrical, pediatrics, public health, vulnerable populations, emergency, or critical care nursing
    • Job experience working with vulnerable patient populations in diverse healthcare settings
