Professor - Nursing teaches courses in the discipline area of nursing. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Our skilled nursing facility is currently seeking to complete our leadership team with a strong, organized Director of Nursing (DON). The DON works closely with the Administrator and needs to have the organizational skills to assist with projects. The candidate for this position must be able to lead the nursing department to provide excellent resident care. To qualify, you must be a Registered Nurse with an active Illinois license.
Duties include but is not limited to:
- Assist Administrator with policy development, strategic planning and problem-solving, as well as ensures quality patient care with the best possible outcome.
- Monitor the nursing department to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Provide staff development with orientation of new employees.
- Act as a member of the Quality Assurance team.
- Monitor progress on survey compliance issues when deficiencies are noted.
