Professor - Nursing teaches courses in the discipline area of nursing. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Clark College is currently accepting applications for two full-time Tenure-track Nursing Professors. A background in long-term care, memory care, skilled or rehab nursing care; or leadership and policy in nursing is preferred. Other nursing backgrounds and combinations of nursing experience will be considered. The successful candidates will work within a team to teach a combination of didactic, clinical, lab, and/or simulation courses. Department and college service work is expected with the position as assigned by the Division or College to support the institutional mission and goals, the foremost being student success and retention.     FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Instruct all classes as an expert in the discipline using active learning approaches that both engage and facilitate student learning.
    • Advise and assist students in their educational and career development.  
    • Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques. 
    • Pursue professional development to stay current in the field.
    • Obtain and maintain Professional-Technical Certification requirements.
    • Participate in program, curriculum development and assessment activities.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and other educational partners to create unique learning opportunities at Clark College.
    • Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department and college committees.
    • Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
    • Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.
    • Work cooperatively in a variety of department-level activities and college or company-wide projects. 
    • Pursue professional development to enhance teaching and learning in the department and College.
    POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Collaborate with community partners in maintaining effective relationships and support of the quality of clinical learning experiences.
    • Actively participate in maintenance of program regulatory approval and continuing accreditation. 
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
    • Master’s degree in Nursing OR a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a graduate degree in a health or education related field.
    • Three (3) full time equivalent years of registered nursing experience.
    • Washington AND Oregon RN license by the time of hire. 
    SALARY STATEMENT:
    The current starting salary is $127,410, including $78,639 (base salary) $24,771 (31.5% nursing salary stipend) $24,000 nursing salary supplement.   Faculty may be eligible to advance every other year; the current top step salary is $161,089 ($104,250 (base salary) $32,839 (31.5% nursing salary stipend) $24,000 (nursing salary supplement).  The nursing salary stipend and salary supplement are contingent on continued funding.   Hiring salary is negotiable within the salary range. Salary is for a 173-day contract; additional compensation is available through summer and moonlight teaching, and doctoral and vocational stipends.  
    Please note the salary may be adjusted for the 2024-2025 year pending the legislatively funded cost-of-living.
