Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Teaching courses fall and spring semesters in ethics and introductory philosophy in a classroom setting or online.
    Assisting and supporting students beyond the classroom by holding regular or virtual office hours.
    Working collegially with other faculty in the area to develop and use common syllabi, course materials, and assessment methods.
    Using instructional technology, especially the Canvas LMS, Husson G-Suite applications, the efaculty portal, and Examplify.
    Assessing and reporting student performance.
    Attending and participating in faculty meetings, retreats, and trainings as needed.
    Following the policies and procedures set forth the Husson University Faculty Handbook and other institutional documents.

    Examples of Duties

    Education: Master’s Degree in Philosophy, Ethics, or closely related field; Ph.D. preferred.
    Experience: Evidence of effective teaching in philosophy. Demonstrated dedication to improving classroom teaching, exploring new methods, and adapting to student needs.
    Demonstrated ability to work well as a part of a team.

    Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
    • Effectively communicate with students and other faculty
    • Read and interpret
    • Exhibit emotional control and stability
    • Mastery of appropriate computer operation skills, learning management system (Canvas)
    • Use telephone, email and other university communications systems
    • Operate a copier, printer, television, and projector

    Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared $1,100.00 maximum per credit hour*

    • Rate is dependent upon the number of students enrolled in the course assigned.

    Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared $1,250.00 per credit hour
