    We are looking for teachers with subject expertise to deliver inspirational summer programmes that give students an insight into working and studying in their chosen field. At Oxford Royale, our programmes are delivered in an engaging manner that expands, challenges and applies students' knowledge using real-world case studies and contemporary challenges and debates. Students should leave the classroom with an excitement for the subject having encountered different fields within the discipline, debated the latest innovations and challenges, taken part in practical simulations and challenges, and applied theory to practice.

    We are looking for passionate teachers in Yale for our Philosophy, Literature and Modern History course for international students aged 16-18. This course aims to survey the broad span of world history from the classical period to the modern day. At the same time, students will explore the philosophical and ideological underpinnings which drove forward the march of historical progress, immersing themselves in the writing and ideas of thinkers such as Aristotle, Plato, St Augustine, Descartes, Rousseau, Hegel, Nietzche, and many more.

    Key responsibilities

    • To prepare for lessons using the programme information and plans in the provided US Teacher's Guide, reviewing contents and making adaptations where required
    • To deliver programme contents and activities with enthusiasm using varied teaching methods and in a way that actively engages and inspires students
    • To inspire and motivate students through excellent subject knowledge and use of a range of up-to-date resources, case studies and examples
    • To ensure that every student makes progress in the course, making adaptations to tasks where necessary to achieve this
    • To prepare for and deliver challenges, simulation and practical activities that apply the theory and knowledge gained by students on the programme
    • To deliver academic and practical workshops, including leading students in subject-related practical activities or field trips as required
    • To mark assignments and deliver personalised feedback to students
    • To complete personalised reports for every student
    • To complete daily student registers and other administrative processes as required, and review equipment requirements for their class
    • To complete all required training and attend key campus meetings during the session
    • To collaborate with the wider US teaching faculty for shared ideas and cross-class engagement.
    • To complete feedback on materials and teaching.
    • To engage in other areas of campus life and work with the wider campus team to create an outstanding learning environment.

    Position details

    • All teaching is delivered in-person at one of Oxford Royale's US campus locations
    • Programmes are two weeks in length, with contracts available between 27th June 2024 and 29th July 2024
    • Teaching takes place from Monday to Friday with lessons from 08:00 until 16:00 each day, plus some additional academic activity. Options for shorter hours may be available in some locations
    • There will be compulsory online training to complete before starting the role, as well as in-person induction on 27th June 2024, before the summer programme begins
    • Whilst key teaching materials are provided, Teachers are expected to use these materials as a guide, adapting lesson plans to their students' interests and contributing their own expertise and knowledge from the field

    Additional Pastoral Duties

    These are optional and ideally suit a teacher who remains resident on campus during the whole program.

    While undertaking pastoral duties, a teacher will maintain contact with our students outside of lessons, responsible for their everyday safety and well-being (on campus and on educational trips). The US pastoral team provides students with enduring memories and the experience of a lifetime, fulfilling two key roles:

    • Supporting the integrated academic program
    • Delivering extra-curricular activities

    Key additional responsibilities:

    • Supervise student safety while on and off campus, in transit and at all external excursion sites
    • Support activities to enrich the Academic Program
    • Contribute to the organisation, content and delivery of the Social and Enrichment Programs to optimise the students' experience
    • Report safeguarding issues to the senior leadership team

    Salary

    For a standard teaching position of 17.5 hours per week, the weekly salary range is from $600 to $875.

    If additional pastoral hours of 22.5 hours are contracted, the total weekly salary range for the full 40 hours is from $1,000 to $1,450, with accommodation and meals provided on campus.

    The compensation offered depends upon experience and assigned responsibilities, and is subject to satisfactory security background checks.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Completion of an undergraduate degree (or higher) relating to their chosen subject.

    Desirable Qualifications / Experience:

    • Experience of delivering in-person teaching in the subject to students of the relevant age group.
    • A recognised US qualification for teaching in the subject to be taught or one closely related.
    • Master's degree in the subject to be taught or one closely related.
    • Work experience in the field of the subject to be taught.
