Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Assistant Professor of Philosophy


    The University of St. Thomas (www.stthom.edu), a private Catholic university, located in Houston, Texas, committed to the liberal arts and to the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy.

    Deadline for full consideration: review of applications will begin November 30, 2023 Position begins August 2024. Ph.D. required.

    AOS and AOC are open, but facility with the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas strongly preferred, for the sake of core curriculum teaching and because a successful candidate may have the opportunity to teach graduate courses for the Center for Thomistic Studies.

    The ordinary undergraduate teaching load is 4/4. The successful candidate must be qualified to teach at least two courses in the University's core curriculum, which includes PHILC 1301 (Philosophy of Nature and the Human Person), PHILC 2301 (Ethics), and PHILC 3301 (Metaphysics). An active research/publication agenda as well as University and Department service are also required for the successful candidate.
