Professor - Philosophy teaches courses in the discipline area of philosophy. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Philosophy provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Job Summary/Basic Function
    Establish tutoring sessions and be available during those sessions to assist students as needed.
    Classes to be tutored:
    • PHIL 100: Intro. to Philosophy
    • PHIL 120: Intro. to Ethics
    • PHIL 211: Intro. to Logic

    Required Qualifications
    • PHIL 100 and PHIL 120: Current Philosophy major or minor student in good academic standing during the time of employment, or student who is not a Philosophy major/minor who, after meeting with the course instructor, successfully demonstrates that they can tutor the class(es).
    • PHIL 211: Current Philosophy major or minor student in good academic standing during the time of employment, or student who is not a Philosophy major/minor who has successfully completed this course.
    • Must be referred by a faculty member in the Philosophy Department.
    • Successful completion of three background checks.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Job Duties
    Assist students as needed during posted hours.

    Working Conditions and Physical Effort
    • Be able to sit and use a computer for the length of shift
