JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the assigned TrAC Dean, the Adjunct Associate Professor will teach classes in Chemistry. The successful candidate will provide evidence of knowledge and understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, and academic diversity within community college populations; the candidate also will show knowledge and understanding of how these factors relate to the need for equity-minded and culturally-responsive practices in the community college setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must meet the minimum educational qualifications set forth by the District and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
Master's in chemistry
OR
Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry
AND
Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry
OR the equivalent.*

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Effective July 1, 2016, adjunct faculty maximum initial placement on the Hourly Salary Schedule shall be step 5 (initial salary placement plus 4 years of teaching/relevant experience) of the appropriate class (SJCTA Union Contract: Article XVIII 18.7; Appendix A-2)
