Professor - Philosophy teaches courses in the discipline area of philosophy. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Philosophy provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Wells College, in Aurora, NY, is seeking applicants for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics position beginning January 2024. The position is a one-semester appointment. It comes with a 3-3 teaching load. The focus of this position will be to steward our elementary math offerings, including such classes as pre-calculus and elementary statistics in consultation with both mathematics and other fields depending on quantitative literacy. Ability or experience teaching a diverse range of students desired.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or terminal degree in Mathematics, statistics, or developmental math or related fields preferred.
- Undergraduate teaching experience is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and to a student-centered undergraduate education.
