Wilkes University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology to begin August 2024. We seek a candidate whose area of expertise will add to the existing strengths of our faculty. Preference will be given to individuals with a focus in the areas of clinical/counseling psychology, or an applied area of psychology including I/O, cultural psychology, community psychology, or sports psychology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an array of undergraduate classes that will include courses in their specialty area, as well as other courses needed by the department, such as Research Methods, Senior Capstone Courses, and Introductory Psychology. The Department of Psychology consists of six-full-time faculty who are student and teaching focused. We seek a candidate who demonstrates a commitment to undergraduate teaching and can provide evidence of teaching effectiveness and scholarly productivity. The new faculty member will also be expected to develop an active research program involving undergraduate students, advise undergraduate students, and perform university and professional service. Preference will be given to candidates who embrace the University's culture of developing mentoring relationships. A Ph.D. in psychology at the time of appointment is required. Psychology is the largest major within the College of Arts and Sciences and is one of the most popular majors at Wilkes University. We also have a very active Psychology Club and chapter of Psi Chi.
