Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Description

    Summary

     

    The Bachelors of Social Work program in the School of Health Sciences at Regis College seeks adjunct instructors with primary responsibility to teach courses in Contemporary Social Problems, Social Work in Health Care Settings and Child Welfare.

     

    In the BSW program, students are prepared to become generalist practitioners in Social work. The courses are electives in the generalist practice curriculum that adds to the already required courses to meet the overall knowledge, values and skills need of an entry level social worker.  

     

     

    Essential Functions:

     

    • Teach one course a term: Social Work in Health Care Settings, Child Welfare and Contemporary Social Problems.
    • Attend a monthly faculty team meeting (optional) to consult on student issues, course assignments, and program updates;
    • Communicate with BSW faculty as needed to support student learning.

     

     

    Other Responsibilities:

     

    • Instructor must be available for regular online meetings and mentoring with Program Director;
    • Provide office hours and excellent communication to online students;
    • Assign grades and provide relevant and substantive feedback in a time manner through the Moodle classroom;
    • Respond to student email inquiries within 24 hours weekdays, 48 hours weekends, utilizing the university email account;
    • Participate in regular remote meetings, trainings, and faculty development opportunities as needed.

     

    Qualifications


    Requirements:

     

    • Applicants must have a CSWE-accredited MSW degree
    • Interest in teaching social work practice and field education
    • Minimum of two years post-MSW experience
    • Demonstrated skill in group facilitation
    • Experience in teaching face to face and online in post-secondary education settings
    • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite, LMS-Moodle and willingness to learn technology tools used to support student learning
    • Ability to uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.

     

     

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

     

    • Normal classroom environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
