    The School of Psychology, Sociology & Rural Studies invites applications for part-time, temporary Instructor of Sociology positions who are interested in teaching 16% – 49% course assignments in the Sociology program on a semester, by semester basis, beginning with the 2023-2024 academic year. Must be available and willing to teach through various mediums including on campus, online and hybrid courses. These faculty members are supervised by the Director of the School of Psychology, Sociology & Rural Studies.

    Responsibilities:
    • Provide high-quality teaching of a variety of undergraduate courses in sociology, including Introduction to Sociology on the SDSU campus in Brookings.
    • Participate as necessary in collection of course-based assessment data for student learning outcomes
    • Communicate in a timely fashion with students, colleagues, staff, and director.


    Minimum qualifications:
    • Successful candidates will hold a Master’s degree in Sociology.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    Preferred qualifications:
    • Ph.D. degree in Sociology
    • Experience teaching at the university level
    • Experience with education technology applications, e.g., D2L learning management system.
